Jessica Morgan is one half behind comedy blog, Go Fug Yourself, a light-hearted site which pokes fun at the questionable attire worn by some of our favourite stars (we’re talking to you, Brad!). Self described as being a fan of books about romantic problems during olden times, extravagant shoes, cheese, and nearly every teen drama on television; she also favors a number of select LA hangouts. Namely:
This is the oldest and largest independent bookstore in Southern California — and the best
We’re partial to the one at the Farmer’s Market, but each Monsieur Marcel boasts a vast array of weird and delightful condiments, cheeses, interesting do-dads, pastries, foreign candies, and wine. Great for gifts.
Order the Godmother and have a sandwich change your life
Delicious cocktails and small plates in Studio City. They have fabulous tiny devilled eggs.
Possibly the best shoe (and bag) repair in Los Angeles county. Trust your most beloved pieces to them.
It’s called This Is Not Ikea for a reason. It’s full of groovy, unique furniture and housewares — I bought a sculpture of a Roman solider there, who now guards my dining room. Always something new.
The other best place for housewarming presents in Los Angeles, whether you want to bring a selection of cacti, a bouquet, or a less organic gift (like fancy soap, or vintage napkins).
Because sometimes you want a huge glass of wine, a fancy cocktail, or a delicious flatbread pizza between paintings at LACMA. (Sometimes I go over there for wine without even going inside the museum first.)
