The Strand Arcade is known and loved for its craftsmanship and authenticity, with artisans in designer fashion, jewellery, shoes, hats and sweets. When the Strand Arcade was established in 1891, it was the fifth and last of the arcades built in Victorian Sydney. Here is our curation of the best spots for sweets at the Strand Arcade:

The Nut Shop has a long history at the Strand Arcade, with the products made on site during the 1940s. Some may still remember Karl (picture attached), cooking the Vienna Almonds (known as Vanilla Almonds during the war) by hand in large copper pans, the delicious smell wafting through the Arcade and out into the streets of Sydney. The Vienna Almonds remain one of our favourites from the store, in addition to new products including chocolates, crunchy pecan brittle and macadamias.

The perfect spot to stop by for an afternoon treat (if we needed the excuse!), Sweet Infinity’s window display of treats captures us every time we walk past. Choose from their signature range including chocolate brownies, crème brulee tarts and macarons in the season’s most stylish colour palette.

Bon Bon has served their Belgian delicacies and world-famous Nougat Limar to sweet-lovers for over 13 years. You can also pop into the Bon Bon Café, hidden downstairs under the retail store and indulge in their decadent hot chocolate (we like the 70% dark chocolate) – there’s High Tea experiences on Sunday’s too!

Established in 1915, Haigh’s is Australia’s oldest chocolate manufacturing retailer. The fourth generation, family owned company is one of very few manufacturing retailers in the world still making chocolates from raw cocoa beans and the company retains many of the traditional methods and artisan skills of chocolate manufacturing. If you are new to Haigh’s, their most popular picks include the Chocolate Super Frogs, Milk Speckles and assorted chocolates with flavours from Rum and Raisin Fudge to Wattleseed Toffee Crunch. To celebrate the Strand joining Posse, we’re giving you the chance to win 1 of 10 Haigh’s signature chocolate frogs when you add the Strand Arcade as a favourite place before 31 July.
