Are you Sydney-siders searching for a new sunny sipping spot? Wining and dining is far more interesting with a breeze and the potential to get a tan! Here is my guide to my all-time favourite outdoor bars!

1.  The Balmain Hotel

There is no better way of describing the Balmain’s beer garden than simply FUN! No flower the same type, no wall the same colour. It reminds you of a beach house that has been decorated by the creator of Skittles. With a pop up bar to the likes of a child’s lemonade stand, the staff are friendly and the drinks are delicious.

2. The Glenmore Hotel

Reopened only a year ago, The Glenmore’s rooftop bar is simply incredible. Located at the top of the Rocks, the view over Sydney Harbour and the Opera House is breathtaking. If you’re after a cocktail, the stirrers and shakers on level one are happy to bring your drink up to you! The cocktail list is extensive and I highly recommend the Quince Jar, a gin based cocktail shaken in a mason jar with quince, lemon and cloves. It’s tangy and delicious. As the weather is getting warmer, the roof is getting busier so if crowds aren’t your scene, best to get up there early afternoon!

Don’t let the idea of a bar in the cross turn you away, Sweethearts is an edgy, cool venue with the freshest air Kings Cross has to offer. Just above Kit and Kaboodle, it is perfect for a couple (million) afternoon drinks before heading downstairs for a dance. Steer clear of the weak, icy espresso martini, but please please PLEASE order the ‘Hills Hoist’ cocktail jug! It tastes exactly like a Starburst watermelon lollypop, but alcoholic!

4.  The Beresford Hotel

The courtyard at the Beresford has a laid-back, flowing atmosphere… exactly suited to the staff! On a sunny day, the courtyard is a perfect spot for sun-soaking and sipping! When night falls, the lanterns turn on, matching the Japanese maples that adorn the gardens! As for food, hold the prosciutto and the avocado

5.  The Royal Oak Hotel, Double Bay

As my favourite spot to drink when I was freshly 18, following my older sister around, as a 21 year old, it is still my favourite spot- especially now the level one beer garden has opened! The crowd varies in age, but no one (over 18) is unwelcome!

If you’re looking for a function venue this place is your go to! With no cost for room hire, you are able to spend up on the drinks, and of course, the food. The functions menu is seriously delectable. They have Haloumi skewers!!! Functions on level one allow you entrance to the beer garden, what a perfect way to celebrate any occasion.
