Comedy hits Sydney’s Basement

Comedy at The Basement is coming to Sydney’s CBD with the funniest stand-up comedians in the country.  Shows will run twice a month as comics Ben Ellwood & Jono Lee set out to test Sydneysider’s abdomen strength. Here’s what’s on offer for its debut, September 3rd.

Tommy Dean

Arizona-raised, now a resident of Sydney for 16 years, stand-up star Tommy Dean is a headline comedian you can’t overlook. As seen on various Australian television shows, including Spick and Specs and The Today Show, he’s renowned for his ability to understand Australia despite hailing from the States. With a booming voice and pin point observations of modern life don’t miss out on experiencing this in-demand comedian.

Rebecca De Unamuno

Rebecca is well established on the Australian comedic scene, and will be your MC for the opening night. She caught the attention of many with her ‘Kiss My Date’ act last year. The insight into her fruitless pursuit to find a partner online revealed raw and embarrassing encounters of her love life. Rebecca’s quick-wit and creativity will shine as she stretches out to the audience.

Michael Workman

Workman has built up a fair trophy cabinet whilst establishing himself as a one of Australia’s favourite comedians. In 2011 his show ‘Mercy’ became the only stand up comedy show to win the ‘Award for Excellence’ at the Sydney Fringe Festival. Since then, Workman has continued producing surreal and hilarious comedy. He’s defined by his clever and often absurd humour, which has set him apart from his contemporaries.

Ticket prices for the opening night start from $25. You can make your trip to the basement a complete evening with a dinner ticket ($50), including one main meal  + one snack upon arrival. Chicken, Beef and Lamb Burgers make up the main courses. But, if you don’t think you can hold it all down during the show you can opt for the lighter option of a Crispy Duck Salad.
