Over the next few weeks you might start to see this on some artist posse pages:

This means that the bands’ posse page is locked. This will be done if they aren’t offering any rewards for you to promote them.

What this means is that any events or products on this page will not be able to be accessed until there are a minimum number of fans interested in promoting this artist and they claim the posse. You will be able to tell how many more fans are needed from the lock screen.

If you know that a band you love is touring soon you can sign up to their posse as a Founding Member. From there you can invite friends and other fans to get involved to help unlock their posse page.

Once a posse becomes ‘unlocked’ this lets us and the bands know that there are ACTIVE FANS who want to help them.

Once the bands themselves get involved there are more likely to be rewards and other great prizes for helping promote their events and products.

We introduced ‘Quests’ to the site a few months ago so that bands could reward their fans for promoting to their friends in an easy and really transparent way . We can still have commissions listed as rewards, but this allowed bands to also offer experiences like backstage access, meet and greets or shout outs at shows as well as physical rewards like Cds, t-shirts or mp3s.

Quests were the first step in the larger plan of rewards. It was a basic mechanism of fans completing one task to earn one reward, then another task to earn the next reward.

We have added another layer of rewarding as of today. Fans can now complete tasks or quests, but can be rewarded with points as well or instead of the singular reward. When fans get points they can redeem rewards (which are all listed on the right) of the artists posse page – they can keep their points and keep promoting for a higher reward, or redeem them as they go.

Once fans have redeemed their points their balance goes back to zero and they start completing tasks again to earn more points. Points only apply to each individual band posse – if you get 20 points for The Aston Shuffle, they only count towards the Aston Shuffle and their rewards.

This hasn’t changed any of quests listed on the site before this update. They are still running and the rewards are all still available.

The points system will be available for new campaigns listed from this week – there are a few going up as we speak..one is here – we will be posting about them here once they are finalised.

We wil

l be adding to this functionality in the coming weeks along also adding messaging features so fans can be notified when new rewards are listed for bands they are interested in.

If you have any questions about any of the points systems or rewards leave us a reply here or post on the feedback forum.

Music Social’ was an event for self managed artists, managers, promoters, record company executives, media and new technology companies to discuss the revolution in music promotion.

The events included presentations by representatives from Facebook, Youtube, ARIA Digital Committee and us (Posse) on trends they have seen through their experiences and ideas on how better to use social media as a tool for promotion of music.

A big thank you to all of you who came down to both events, those of you who tweeted at us from home, the presenting partners, security and venues for making them such a success.

We’ve launched new features! Quests are inspired by competitions we’ve run for fans to earn special rewards for promoting their favourite band. Our most recent was for Aussie pop-rock band Amy Meredith. Their fans could win a meet & greet with the band members before their show as a reward for selling four tickets to the tour. Meeting your favourite band is a prize money can’t buy and the success of Amy Meredith’s Posse shows just how much fans love this opportunity.

Posse’s new quests let any band or festival set a task for their fans to earn recognition and a unique reward.

To be eligible for rewards you need to click the ‘join’ button before you start making sales – sales you make before you have joined a quest won’t count. So make sure you join in each one before sending out your links.

We’ve also added status points for fans and their posses. Points show a fan’s success for their bands, as well across Posse as a whole. Fans earn points for every sale they help to make as well as for completing quests.

Other improvements we released at the same time include a browse page charting popular posses, recent announcements, and upcoming shows, improvements to your dashboard, and a sweet update to fans’ public profile pages. You can now upload your own large photo to lead the page, re-arrange your posses by dragging and dropping, and select which upcoming shows to feature for each band.

If you have ideas we’d love to hear them in our forum, or drop us an email.

Being ranked #2 in the Amy Meredith Posse, we asked Wendy005 to tell us what she thought of the show on Friday night.

You can check out the photos Wendy005 took here or keep reading for her review.

“From early afternoon last Friday, fans of Amy Meredith were lining up outside the Metro Theatre for the sold out Sydney show of the Higher Education tour. Having sold tickets for the tour, I was invited to attend soundcheck. It’s really a lot of fun to watch the pre-show setting up, and I feel very priveleged to have been given the opportunity to see just what goes into preparing for a concert.

When doors opened at 7:30pm, and I watched the Metro fill up with excited fans, I knew it was going to be a night to remember. Within about a minute, the floor area was completely packed, and a few minutes later, so was the rest of the theatre. The crowd didn’t have long to wait before Bridgemary Kiss, the first of the special guests for the tour, took the stage. This four-piece band from Sydney got the crowd pumping with their raw, honest rock, and a very courageous stage dive from lead singer, Brett Ramson. Next on the bill were Sydney pop punk band Tonight Alive, fronted by the truly delightful Jenna McDougall (one of Australia’s best female vocalists in my opinion). Tonight Alive tore up the stage and quite literally had the audience jumping along to their high energy songs. If you get a chance, check them out on their own headlining tour coming up in July.

Amy Meredith - taken by Wendy005

To say there was an air of excitement during the next set break would be an understatement. We were only minutes away from what everyone had come to the Metro to see, and we were sure it was going to be special. The lights went down, and the cheers went up, as a voice over welcomed us to ‘Higher Education’. Spotlights hit a spinning mirror ball as Amy Meredith took the stage to some very loud screaming and cheering, and opened with their first single, ‘Pornstar’. Hearing the incredible vocals of Christian Lo Russo being joined by 1300 backup singers is truly something to behold. Every song they played was a crowd pleaser, from the older self-titled EP track ‘Running’, to ‘Restless’ album tunes ‘Late Nights’, ‘Born To Live’ and ‘Carry On’, and the first Amy Meredith penned song (and always a fan favourite) ‘Black Eyes’. A lucky fan was picked out of the crowd to be serenaded on stage by Christian with Joel Chapman on guitar, to a fabulous acoustic rendition of ‘Kiss Me Quick’. Their most recent single, ‘Faded White Dress’ was a hit with the audience, and was followed by a fantastic cover version of Gnarls Barkley’s ‘Crazy’. The audience was having an absolute ball, and when the opening bars of Amy Meredith’s top ten hit ‘Lying’ started to play, the crowd was whipped into a frenzy, singing along to every line, with some of the loudest audience accompaniment I’ve ever heard. Being the last song of the set, Amy Meredith left the stage, however the audience was not going to let the night end there. Loud screams, cheers, and whistles joined the “Encore!” chant, and some impressive crowd foot-stomping, brought Christian, Joel, guitarist Cameron Laing, bass player Wade Osborn, and drummer Kosta Theodosis back onto the stage to play ‘Young At Heart’, which was exuberently accompanied by hundreds of excited fans. About two thirds through the song, the members of Tonight Alive and Bridgemary Kiss, joined Amy Meredith on stage to sing along, and join in the party that is an Amy Meredith show. After the show, the members of all three bands stayed around to talk to, in Christian’s words, “the people that we love”, and sign autographs, which is no small task considering the size of the crowd, but is very much appreciated by all the fans. Huge credit also to Brett Tollis for his flawless sound engineering, and Mike MacDonald for the spectacular lighting show.

If you have never been to an Amy Meredith show before, you are really missing out. They are an amazing live band, and put on a show you’ll be eager to see again and again. If you’re in Brisbane or Canberra, you’re in luck, as the ‘Higher Education’ tour bus is on its way this week and next week respectively, and you really should get along to it. You’ll be glad you did.”
