A bookworm’s guide to getting out and about
Today we bring you an espresso shot of art and culture with Cam from Surry Hills Booksellers, Oscar & Friends! When he’s not digging through the store’s quirky book collection, Cam frequents plenty of snacking corners, galleries, and landmarks and does his mates a favour by adding them to Posse!
Cam loves his historical and cultural stops across the globe and gets his worldly art fix from the modern New Museum in New York City. Closer to home, he recently had the pleasure of visiting the Art Gallery of New South Wales for the Picasso and Francis Bacon exhibitions. When he would rather take a more hands-on approach as a craftsman, Cam heads to the Bower in Marrickville to breathe new life into the knicks and knacks to be found in what he calls his trash and treasure wonderland.
5 minutes with David Anderson from NOM Pizza
If you’ve eaten pizza in Italy and announced upon returning home that you’ll never eat pizza outside of Naples again, we have news for you! The guys from NOM Pizza are not only Italian- they’re from Naples- and they make ”pizza so good Italy is jealous!”.
We were lucky enough to meet David Anderson, one of NOM’s talented “pizzialo’s’ and ask him about some of his favourite places on earth.
Hi David! Can you show us a picture of a pizza from NOM?
My top 8: Byron Bay hangouts from BIKINIVISTA!
We’ve been busy here at Posse HQ, finding some incredible people to share their favourite places on earth with you. When we came across Julz from travel blog, BIKINIVISTA, we knew she’d be a total expert on the places to go in Byron Bay NSW- her hometown!
Bright Cool Places from Bright Green Laces
Posse had lots of fun with Shereen, author of the fabulous fashion blog; Bright Green Laces. She gave us the lowdown on where to shop, eat, drink, read and shop some more.
Bright Green Laces is Shereen’s addictive fashion blog, where she shares her eclectic wardrobe and beautiful styling tips. The blog name came from her first major fashion purchase: a pair of plain converse that she customised with bright green shoe laces to stand out from the crowd.
Shereen lives, eats and breathes fashion, so we were dying to see where all her clothing and accessory gems are sourced from. Living in Sydney’s Western Suburbs, Shereen tends to go on ‘purposeful’ shopping expeditions, regularly visiting her favourite stores. These are the special stores made her short list:
Innovative Art – Posse Meets Gallery 2010
We recently met style guru and Gallery 2010 owner, Sam Preston.
For those who haven’t heard of Gallery 2010, it is a contemporary gallery in a leafy Surry Hills garage. Supporting emerging artists, Gallery 2010 is non –profit and curator-run.
Gallery 2010 is loved by many Posse fans and we had the pleasure of meeting Sam to find out which places she loves and recommends from around the world.
Here’s what she has to say…..
If you love to wine and dine cafe style, then the Revolver in Annandale will be your cup of tea.. Literally! In Sam’s opinion it is ‘the best café in Sydney, [which] ticks all the boxes’ – this is quite a claim! Revolver has some expectations to live up to!
A coffee lover, Sam insists Corduroy, in Surry Hills is the place to go for some caffeination! Corduroy use Little Marionette coffee which is deliciously smooth. Sam used to live near the Little Marionette Roastery in Annandale, but the Corduroy is now the closest purveyor.
